Calm as can be, Sam Sloman jogged onto the field and lined up a fairly-routine kick, just a 37 yarder. Except, this was no routine situation. The score was 38-38, 4 seconds on the clock, and an AFC South Division title was on the line.
The Tennessee Titans were putting all of their faith in the right leg of a kicker they’d activated from the practice squad just days before. Sloman, who still hadn’t met all of his teammates, was about to do a huge favor for all of them.

Reminiscent of a game of pinball, Sam booted a kick that doinked off the right upright and went in. He did it! Tennessee’s players and coaches rushed the field to celebrate with the clutch kicker!
“A fu***** stud!”, as teammate Will Compton described him, Sloman quickly earned the trust of his teammates. The former scout team kicker clinched the AFC South Title for Tennessee and became an overnight hero of Titans fans everywhere. “That’s the first last-second field goal I’ve ever attempted in my life”, said Sloman. After a clutch performance like that, it almost certainly will not be his last, either.
Yep, Sam Sloman is definitely The Hoss.
